Rising Star of Indiana A Program of the Indiana Association of School Principals Class of 2020
Rising Stars of Indiana is a non-competitive recognition program, designed to honor high school juniors for their academic achievement. By allowing schools to identify outstanding scholars during their Junior year, we hope to increase their visibility and scholarship opportunities.

Each Indiana high school can identify up to four individuals who will be graduating with the class of 2020. Each individual student will be recognized equally through inclusion in a published list of statewide Rising Stars of Indiana, and will receive an award certificate and documentation (mailed to their school) that can be included in portfolios or in a resume.
The November 26, 2018 inclement weather cancellation will be made up on March 15, 2019.

This will be an eLearning day.

Greg Kirby is the most recent Valpo Legend to be recognized by the Lady Vikings Basketball Team. Kirby coached the Valpo Girls basketball team from 1990 to 2006 and finished his coaching career at Valparaiso University, coaching the women’s basketball team for 6 years.

Coach Kirby has had much success in his coaching years. His teams have won 12 sectional championships, eight regional titles, four semi-state wins and two state runner-up finishes. In 2014, Coach Kirby was inducted into the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame.

Kirby has many fond memories of coaching over the years but his favorite memory was being able to maintain a high level of play for 16 years at Valparaiso High School. After many years of coaching, Kirby learned that players are capable of doing a lot more than they think they can. His advice to any girl playing Valpo Basketball is to respect, and take pride in the tradition of girls basketball; also, enjoy the four years that you have in high school, they go by quickly.
