Bullying Prevention/Pro-Social Skills Training for Students

Per Indiana Codes  20-30-5-5.7 & 20-30-5-5.5, the schools are required to provide bullying prevention and personal safety lessons to all students

Elementary

The Monique Burr Foundation’s Child Safety Matters curriculum is utilized at the elementary level. The first part of this curriculum covers body safety and is presented before winter break.  The second part covers bullying and digital safety and is presented during the second semester. If you would like more information, please visit the website, https://www.mbfpreventioneducation.org/

The program empowers children to spot and respond to bullying, cyberbullying, child abuse, and digital dangers.  Most importantly, it teaches that adults are responsible for children’s safety, but there are things they can do to help adults keep them safe.  The program is based on the latest research and has been reviewed and endorsed by national experts.

We use a district developed lesson about bullying to meet the October 15 state mandated deadline for bully prevention education.  The same concepts and vocabulary are reinforced during the spring Child Safety Matters lessons.

Secondary

The public education coordinator from Dunebrook presents to students regarding both bullying and personal safety in the middle and high schools utilizing the Monique Burr Foundation Teen Safety Matters program.  Secondary presentations take place in the fall to meet the October 15 bully prevention education requirement.

The presentation empowers students to spot and respond to bullying, cyberbullying, the four types of abuse (physical, emotional, sexual, neglect), relationship abuse, digital abuse, and other digital dangers.  Most importantly, it teaches that adults are responsible for their safety but there are things they can do to help adults keep them safe. This presentation is based on the latest research and has been reviewed and endorsed by national experts.  If you would like more information, please visit the website, https://www.mbfpreventioneducation.org/
