VCS Announces “Military Hall of Honor” Initiative & Display at VHS

VALPARAISO, IND. - At the Valparaiso Community Schools Board Meeting set for January 26, Superintendent Dr. Jim McCall will announce a military appreciation initiative and display to be housed in Valparaiso High School (VHS).  Entitled the ‘VHS Military Hall of Honor,’ the ~40 feet long by ~12 feet tall indoor display will feature each of the branches of the US Armed Forces along with the names and class year of VHS graduates who served in the military.

The VHS Military Hall of Honor will be visible from both the upper and lower level of the main entrance hallway of VHS.  “Valparaiso and our school community take great pride in honoring and celebrating the commitment and sacrifice of our military service men and women,” said Dr. McCall.  “This program and this display to be a consistent reminder to students, staff, and all those who visit Valparaiso High School. We want to honor our graduates and inspire our students.”

VCS has created an online portal where graduates and/or family members are encouraged to submit their information or the information of their loved one to be included on the display, which is planned for an unveiling in May of this year, Military Appreciation Month.
