Elementary Summer School
Dear Elementary Parents and Guardians,
VCS is proud to announce that we will be offering two sessions of elementary summer school this year, instead of the previously scheduled single session in July. Session 1 will run from June 3rd through June 22nd. Session 2 will run from July 5th through July 22nd. All elementary summer school classes will be held on the Thomas Jefferson campus utilizing both school buildings.
2020-2021 Elementary Summer School will provide targeted and differentiated instruction to meet students’ needs. VCS will have a licensed mental health counselor present during both sessions to provide services for students. Students who are recommended for summer school will be assigned a session based on the student’s academic needs.
Summer school will be in person only and hosted on the Thomas Jefferson campus utilizing both school buildings allowing VCS to provide a safe learning environment by limiting the number of students in classrooms for physical distancing.
VCS will make recommendations to parents for students who we believe need an opportunity to bridge the 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 school years. Additionally, parents may elect to register their student for summer school should they believe an opportunity to bridge this year and next is essential for their child. Registration will be sent directly to parents of students being recommended on March 29, 2021. Parents electing to register their child for summer school may do so from March 29, 2021-April 2, 2021 by accessing the form on the VCS website at https://www.valpo.k12.in.us/apps/pages/elemsummerschool.
