The goal of this page is to assist parents, guardians, and childcare providers in navigating software and programs used during weekly Wednesday e-learning lessons. If you need further assistance please contact your child's teacher. 
Getting Started with a Chromebook
1. Click on the wifi symbol (next to time and battery on the lower right hand side
of screen).

2. Click on “No Network”.
3. Click on the name of your Wifi home network or Wifi name you are using at a location other
than home.
4. From there, type in the password for the wifi connection.

Now that you have connected to your local wifi connection, you are ready to login.
1. Click the “Add Person” button located in the bottom left corner of the screen.
2. In the popup box, enter your student’s ID number followed by @valpo.k12.in.us as their email
address.

3. Click the blue Next button
4. Enter your child’s unique password followed by VCS. (All letters should be capitalized.)

5. Accept terms of any following pages.
6. You are all set and ready to use your school device!

  • Go to the Valparaiso Community Schools website
  • Click the Canvas icon on the top right of the screen
Canvas
  • Student should use their Canvas login credentials
    • Username consists of 7-8 numbers
    • Password consists of 5 letters+VCS
  • Student should select their Homeroom course from the Dashboard
  • Student should click on the “Click here for eLearning” for instructions on today’s
    lessons
  • Logging into Canvas from an iPad or Tablet
    • You can follow the steps from above to navigate to Canvas from a browser.
    • There is also a Canvas app that can be downloaded for free.
 
 

Logging into the App:
1. Open the Canvas STUDENT app on your device.
2. Click on the button “Find my school”.
3. Start typing in “Valparaiso”. Valparaiso Community Schools should self populate. Click on “Valparaiso Community
Schools”.
4. Type in the student’s username and password.

Once logged in, you can add a second user on the app:
● Click on the three lines in the upper left hand corner of the screen.
● Click on “Change User”.
● You will be sent back to the original login screen with the button “Find my school” (NOTE: You should see the first child’s
name at the bottom of the screen showing that this child has already been logged into the app).
● Repeat steps 2-4 from above to log the second child into the app.

To Switch/Toggle from One Student to Another:
● Click on the three lines in the upper left hand corner of the screen.
● Click on “Change User”.
● You will be sent back to the original login screen with the button “Find my school”.
● Click on your child’s name at the bottom of the login screen to switch to that user.

1. Click on the Chrome profile pic in the upper right hand corner of Chrome

2. Click the “+”.
3. Name the account and pick an image.
4. Click “Add”.
5. Click “Already a Chrome user? Sign in”
6. Type in the student numbers and add @valpo.k12.in.us.
7. Click “Next”.
8. Type in the student password (LETTERS+VCS).
9. Click on “Link Data”.
10. Click “Yes, I’m in” to sync data.
